Endhiran Songs Review

Again it's an ARR's branded and promising album for music fans! The freshness, youthfulness and newness keep on growing in our legend's music! The music for Endhiran is full of techno which was made because of the theme used.

Kaadhal Anukkal Song is mind blowing. Shreya ghoshal voice is cool and looks different this time. It is good and superb on repeated hearing. Its definitely one of best of ARR's Meolody collection. You can always decode whether ARR had enjoyed composing a song or not from the interludes he uses in them. He gives his best for all his compositions. But there are few which he gives something extra, a magic touch and that touch is very evident in Kadhal Anukkal.

Arima arima is also amazing and the beats are really good. A different kind of feel in both songs. Rahman did his magic as usual.

1. Pudhiya Manitha - a slow paced intro and SPB lines are out of the world.

2. Kaadhal Anukkal - probably the only song which you can hear in a normal album. As all songs are new and expermimental in Endhiran and Kadhal Anukkal just rocks, probably next Hosanna

3. Irumbile oru kadhal - a fast paced techno song with english rap by Kashy and Krish. First time such a song in Tamil. Although listening to the song for the first time didnt give much impression, listening to second time it was like wow!

4. Chitti dance show - Wow. What a song it is!!! It would beat Shivaji theme. Western and classical mix.

5. Arima Arima - Hariharan in full flow!

6. Kilimanjaro - This is the song which got leaked a bit during shooting. Its a fun type love track. Need to listen a couple of times for falling in love with it

7. Boom Boom- Wow.super. But disappointed that yogib has sung only a small part but a very different wonderful song

Aayiram Vilakku Preview

Cast:Santhanu, Sathyaraj, Sana Khan
Direction:S P Hosimin
Music:Srikanth Deva
'Aayiram Vilakku' is a forthcoming film directed by SP Hosimin. It is the first production venture of HMI Pictures and second for director SP Hosimin after his first film February 14. The tag line of the film is “A mafia epic overshadowed by love.” The shooting of 'Aayiram Vilakku' started in October, 2009.
Set in the back drop of Madurai soil the film is a different kind of gangster story. Its about a strong rowdy Lingam who is ruthless in his acts. While being an untamable wild bull, Lingam comes across a young boy Gopal who is the son of a coolie. Love and bonding develops between the two and Lingam’s life changes. Lingam who has not known what love and affection is all about starts experiencing the same by the actions of Gopal. Gopal works to bring Lingam out of his life in darkness. Lingam feels Gopal is like a thousand lamps that has lit his dark life hi lived all along. While they are living like a father-son, suddenly some events turn around their lives.
Sathyaraj plays Lingam and Shantanu plays Gopal in this emotional drama. Sathyaraj has played consequential role after a long time. For Shantanu this is going to be a real commercial identification he has been waiting for.  His character is diagonally opposite to what he played in Sakkarakatti.
Another revelation in the film is going to be Sana Khan according to all. Director Hosimin, Sathyaraj and Shantanu had unanimously praised Sana Khan for her performance in the film. Sana Khan who entered Kollywood as an item girl has proved she is a genuine star material in the film. The most appreciative remarks from all were her ability to perform so well in spite of not able to speak Tamil. So she will be one to watch out in the film.
The big stars in Aayiram Viklakku are Sathyaraj, Santhanu Bhagyaraj, Sana Khan, Suman, Delhi Ganesh, Thalaivasal Vijay and ‘Ganja’ Karuppu. Theepeti Ganesh and Suja are also there.
The audio of the film was launched on August 9. Srikanth Deva has scored the music for the songs written by Vairamuthu. The film has seven songs and they are these. “Madura Madura” sung by Naveen & Velmurugan, “Porale” sung by Karthik, “Andipatti” sung by Karthik, “Jigarthanda” sung by Karthik and Rita, “Enna Thavam” sung by KJ Yesudas, “Uthama Puthirane” sung by KJ Yesudas and “Rathiye” sung by Harish Radavendra and Chinmayi
All the songs are to be watched for the beautiful words. Particularly ‘Enna thavam Seithen’ sung by KJ Yesudas. Also there is on song that encapsulates the symbols of Madurai like matu thavani, Jigarthanda, Azhagarmalai etc.
Director Hosimin belongs to Madurai and so he has shown Madurai in all its flesh and blood. He was an assistant to Shankar. And that adds to his credibility. This film is sure to take Hosimin out of the closet while his first film February 14 with Bharath did not
Hosimin recently said that this film was supposed to be produced by two of the most reputed banners in Tamil films, but destiny had it be produced by a first timer HMI Pictures. This sums up what the film has in store.

Boss Engira Baskaran Preview

Banner:Vasan Visual Venture
Cast:Arya, Nayantara
Direction:Rajesh
Production:Srinivasan
Music:Yuvan Shankar Raja
‘Boss Engira Baskaran’ is a forthcoming film of Red Giant Movies. The film was actually started by Vasan Visual Ventures that produced Bala’s national award winning film ‘Naan Kadavil’. Later actor Arya undertook the film under his home banner ‘The Show People’ even as the film was under production. But in the end ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’ was lapped up in total by Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies.
Rajesh. M of the cute romantic comedy ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ is the director of this film. While ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ was a city based romance director Rajesh has made his second film a romantic comedy happening mostly in a country back drop, although it travels to city in some parts.
The story is about an ever obliging guy Baskaran (Arya) who is always busy doing odd jobs for other people. In the process he misses a lot of his personal life and doesn’t seem to embark on a useful career. When things almost go out of hand, a no-nonsense young girl Chandrika (Nayantara) enters his life and puts him on right track. A middle class love also blooms on the way.
‘Boss Engira Baskaran’ was launched in November 2009 and finished the entire shooting in August 2010. The film was largely shot in locations like Thanjavur, Mysore and Trichy. A major portion was also film in Kumbakonam and a few in Chennai as well. While for the story they remained in and around Tamil Nadu, Rajesh and his team went to Switzerland for the songs. True to Tamil film culture.
The lead artistes’ words “There was not a single moment when we were stressed out,” that vouch for the clean entertainer. Santhanam plays a friend of Arya and that also ensures good comedy in the film.
Music of the film is scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja who gave some great songs in ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ with the help of words from Na. Muthukumar. Remember the song ‘Oru kal, oru kannadi udaiyamal modhikondal kadhal’? The same musician-lyricist-director combo is working magic in this film too. The film has five songs.
Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the musical score of ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’, too. The film has 5 songs all written by Na. Muthukumar.
Other credits for the film are; Cinematographer Sakthi Saravanan, Art Jacki, Editing Vivekharshan, Choreography Dhinesh, Stunt Rajasekar,  Costume Designer Nalini Sriram (Nayantara) and Dheepali (Arya).
‘Boss Engira Baskaran’ is looking for a September release.

Chikku Bhukku Preview

Banner:Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd, Majestic Multimedia Limited
Cast:Arya, Shriya Saran, Preethi Rao
Direction:Manikandan
Music:Hariharan, Leslie Lewis
Times have changed. But changed not is the craze for romance fictions and travelogues. Blending the both on celluloid is Manikandan, a former associate of late Cinematographer-filmmaker Jeeva.
His forthcoming venture 'Chikku Bhukku', starring Arya and Shriya Saran in lead roles, is a romantic entertainer shot on a train. The film is produced by Media One Global Entertainment Limited in association with Majestic Multimedia Limited.
Interestingly, Manikandan and Media One share a good rapport even before the commencement of this venture. For it was Manikandan who completed 'Dhaam Dhoom' after its director Jeeva's sudden demise.
According to a press release, the duo has now aimed to reach even higher with 'Chikku Bhukku'. The release says: "The film stars Arya, who did a stunning performance in ‘Naan Kadavul’. Shriya Saran has done a never before performance in this film. Debutante Preetika has a very important role and she is the younger sister of Bollywood star Amrita Rao."
"Arya with his earlier performance in 'Varudu' has created a brand for himself with the Telugu audience, while Shriya is a leading actress in Tollywood. Considering the kind of response that these lead actors hold, the film will simultaneously release in Tamil and Telugu," it adds.
Most of the technicians who had worked with Jeeva are part of the 'Chikku Bhukku' team. Camera was handled by R B Gurudhev, dialogues were written by S Ramakrishnan, and lyrics were done by Valee, Pa Vijay and music by Colonial Cousins Hari and Lesle, while Rekha Chinni Prakash and Dinesh did the choreography. The costumes were handled by V Sai and Deepali Noor.
Says Manikandan, "The film is a romantic travelogue, which starts in London and ends in Karaikudi. The shooting took place in and around trendy areas of London, scenic locales of Mysore, Coonoor and traditional houses of Karaikudi.
The diversity between spectacular locations in London, rain forests near exotic western ghats in Karnataka and monumental Karaikudi would give a new look and grandeur to ‘Chikku Bhukku’."
He adds: “I learnt a lot of things from my mentor Jeeva. ‘Think big and be confident about whatever you take up,’ he would say. I am sure ‘Chikku Bhukku’ will work, thanks to its script and lead players.”
On the movie’s storyline, he says, “It is a romantic travelogue. As the title suggests, a train will be seen in the background in most parts of the movie.”
On the whole, 'Chikku Bhukku', a nostalgic clang of a train, is expected to give its viewers, a new romantic journey, which would be enjoyed by one and all.

Aravaan Preview

Cast:Aadhi, Pasupathy, Dhanshika, Archana Kavi
Direction:Vasanthabalan
Music:Karthik
Making period movies is no easy task. But filmmakers like Vasanthabalan could be an exemption to this, for he managed to capture even the busy Ranganathan Street with all its liveliness in his last venture ‘Angadi Theru’, which is tougher than making a period film.
Gaining strength from the movie’s success and the appreciations it won from all sides, the former associate of director Shankar has started ‘Aravaan’, a film set in the backdrop of rural Tamil Nadu in the 18th century.
Produced by T Siva of Amma Creations, the film has Aadhi of ‘Mirugam’ and ‘Eeram’ fame in the lead role, with Dhanshika (of ‘Peranmai and ‘Maanja Velu’) and Mollywood import Archana Kavi as heroines.
Pasupathy is playing an all-important negative role in ‘Aravaan’, based on a critically acclaimed novel, while the film marks popular singer Karthik taking the avatar of as a music composer for the first time.
“Aravaan means an all-powerful person, who possesses 32 features in him. He is capable of doing anything. Aadhi is tailor-made for the role since he is the Hrithik Roshan of Tamil cinema,” says Vasanthabalan.

Ayyanaar Preview

Cast:Aadhi, Meera Nandan
Direction:Rajamithran
Production:P L Thenappan
Music:Thaman
PL Thenappan, the producer known for his big budget films like Pancha Thanthiram, Pammal K Sambantham, Kadhala Kadhala and Thenali has produced this small budget movie ‘Ayyanaar’. It is written and directed by debutante director S.S.Rajamithran who is just out of film institute.
‘Ayyanaar’ is a catchy title and the film is said to be on village love story with heavy leanings on ‘thaai paasam’ (mother sentiments) as well.
Aadhi of ‘Mirugam and Eeram’ and Meera Nandan of ‘Vaalmiki’ are the lead characters in this film. Meera is a college student who is into volleyball and Aadhi plays the coach. Meera meets the Aadhi by accident and initially develops a bad impression of him and suspects his intentions. At the end it’s all rosy. ‘Ayyanaar’ film is largely set in a village, but some scenes take place in the city also.
‘Karuthamma’ Rajashree is playing the important character of Aadhi’s mother. The film was slightly delayed because Rajashree got married and her husband’s family was against acting after marriage. The issue was settled later and film was completed.
One highlight of the film will be the comedy track by Santhanam. He is said to have done an important solo comedy track in the film, in which he has spoofed Osama Bin Laden. His hilarious job is sure to have you in splits.
Music is by the young talented S.Thaman who is having a good run these days. Thaman has tuned five songs for the film and one song “Paniye Paniye” is a real lyrical beauty. Lyrics are written by Na. Muthukumar, Thamarai and Vivega.  Singers used are Ranjith, Rahul Nambiar. Priyadharshini, Velmurugan, Bruce Lee, Aalaap Raju and Naveen. The audio of ‘Ayyanaar’ was released on June 14 by Bharathiraja and others at Sathyam Cinemas.
About ‘Ayyanaar’ hero Aadhi has said “The film has come out very well and all credits should go my director Rajamithran and Thenappan sir. It is a mass commercial entertainer. The songs are good. Wish it reigns supreme at the box- office.” He also said “Dancing was a bit difficult in the film but I managed to.”
Music director Thaman has said “I love to work with Aadhi and both of us share a good rapport.
I’ve done live recording for the film and I always get a lot of energy while working along with Aadhi.”
Director Raja Mithran while speaking about the film has said” The story is like a journey that begins from death to birth. This film is a commercial film with reality.”
‘Ayyanaar’ is releasing in July.

Ambasamuthiram Ambani Preview

Cast:Karunaas, Navneeth Kaur, Kota Srinivasa Rao, R. Sundarrajan, Livingston, VMC Hanifa, Mayilsamy, Urvashi, Nirosha
Direction:Ramnath
Production:John Prieto
Music:Karunaas
It’s not that easy for a comedian to turn a hero and be on the top of expectation chart even for the second film. Karunas has managed to do what almost all the comedians couldn’t do. His first film as a hero ‘Dindugal Sarathy’ which was a remake of the Malayalam hit ‘Vadakkunokki Yanthram’ was a winner at the box-office in 2008.
Armed with the confidence of being accepted if the story is good Karunas has come with his second film ‘Ambasamuthiram Ambani’. His first film dealt with the changing situations in the life of an ordinary looking man who marries a beautiful woman.
‘Ambasamuthiram Ambani’ is also about a simpleton who nourished his own dreams of making it good in life. After the demise of his parents, a villager comes to the city of Chennai with high hopes and big dreams to become a rich businessman like the Ambanis. But he wants to achieve success on fair terms only. This is the story in a nut shell.
Navneet Kaur who was last seen in Vijaykanth’s ‘Arasangam’ plays the female lead opposite Karunas. The comedy segments are handled by Livingston and the late Cochin Haneefa. Other important stars in the film are Kotta Srinivasa Rao, R.Sundarajan, Mayilsami, Oorvasi and Nirosha.
Apart from donning the lead role, Karunas is also the music director of the film. The above average success of his first musical ‘Rajadhi Raja’ has encouraged Karunas to do for this home production also. Vairamuthu has written all the lyrics. A song about what is Chennai written by Kaviyarasu is very thought provoking they say.
‘Ambasamuthiram Ambani’ is written and directed by P. Ramnath, who worked with Karunas on his comedy tracks all through. Pulithevan, a former assistant to K.V. Anand is in charge of cinematography.
The film recently sparked off a pleasant debate as Sun Pictures took over. Even Karuna’s first film ‘Dindugal Sarathy’ was a Sun Pictures release which goes on to say about the content.
‘Ambasamuthiram Ambani’ is releasing on July 2.

Magadheera in Tamil

Telugu superstar Ram Charan Teja’s mega blockbuster in Telugu Maghadheera is going to be partially re-shot and dubbed in Tamil as ‘Mannathi Mannan’, which also happens to be the title of a 1960 MGR’s smash hit. Leading Tamil producer Kalaipuli S Thanu, who has purchased the dubbing rights, will be re-shooting some of the scenes to ensure the new version suits the taste of Tamil audiences. A source said, a separate comedy track will be shot and Vivek is likely to do it, though nothing has been confirmed. They are also planning to re-shoot Sri Hari’s scenes with a Tamil actor.

The trouble is that it would be very difficult to rebuild the sets and recreate the grandeur and richness of the original. The idea seems to be that if the dubbed version of Arundathi, without any re-shoot, could work big time in Tamil Nadu, Mannathi Mannan, with better graphics and special effects, could work even better with its title value. The buzz is that Ram Charan Teja will dub in his own voice. Keeravani’s music will certainly be a plus for the film.

Vidiyal Preview

Banner:Giriguja Films International Pvt Ltd and RRR Movies
Cast:Sarath Kumar, Sneha, Shruthi Prakash
Direction:K S Selvaraj
Music:Dheena
Sarath Kumar is one of the very few actors in Tamil cinema who have enjoyed the maximum box office hits in dual roles. After 'Nattamai', 'Suryavamasam' and 'Natpukkaga', he is at his favourite act again- this time for 'Vidiyal'.
The K S Selvaraj directed film, which has Sneha opposite Sarath for the first time, is jointly produced by Giriguja Films International Pvt Ltd and RRR Movies, a banner floated by Sarath.
Circles close to the actor say the movie spans a period from the pre-independent era to date. Sarath takes on two different roles in the film, while Shruthi Prakash, who made her debut with 'Indira Vizha', is the other heroine.
Shooting for the film started at Madurai's famous Thirumalai Naicker Mahal and a song, 'Adhi Madhura Ilaiyunda Yaanai...', with Yugabharathi’s lyrics and Dheena’s composition was canned on Sarath and Sneha there.
The lead pair bedecked in mythological robes and heavy jewellery sweated it out for the romantic number under arc lights with dance master Sivashankar playing hard taskmaster.
Says the director, "Set in the pre-independent era, the story shifts to the 1970s and moves onto 2010. The film revolves around the life of a freedom fighter. We are attempting something new in Vidiyal."

‘Singam’ to roar in Sandalwood

After stealing hearts in Tamil and Telugu, ‘Singam’, the Suriya starrer, is all set to speak in Kannada. Popular Sandalwood producer Shankare Gowda has acquired the remake rights of the movie, we learn.
If sources are to be believed, the Kannada version has been named ‘Kempe Gowda’ and Sudeep will play the role of a police officer, which was beautifully enacted by Suriya in the Tamil original directed by Hari.
It is said that Sudeep himself would wield the megaphone too. “He had directed ‘Just Math Mathalli’, which has Ramya opposite Sudeep himself, for the same producer Shankare Gowda,” sources add.
They also have it that Kempe Gowda was the name of the person, who founded Bengaluru and hence the title has enormous value. ‘Singam’, produced by Studio Green in association with Reliance Big Pictures, was released all over Tamil Nadu by Sun Pictures.

IRUVAR:most beautiful movie made by mani ratnam

Yesterday one of my friend asked me why 'Iruvar' movie didn't make good

collections. It is one of the beautiful movies made by Mani Ratnam. There

are lots of reasons for that. That was the decade when people started

to like commercial movies. People's taste has changed a lot now. The

current generation do not like such masterpieces. Cultural change is

also a main reason.

Iruvar was released in the midst of humorous flicks. It was the period,

Comedy films ruled & clicked. But Iruvar was well appreciated in all

Film festivals held across the world. Mani Sir never makes his fans as

audience but giving them a good experience.

IRUVAR is an important movie in Manirtanam's direction, Of course in

his directorial venture, it is the film which won max prizes across

globally. The cast was so excellent Mohanlal as MGR, Prakashraj as

Karunanidhi, Aishwarya as Jayalalitha, Gowthami as Janaki, Tabu as

Thayalu, Revathy as Rajathi. It is an important work done by Mani, the

dialogues are so powerful. Rather to say the movie was not liked by

people, it was not made to run in the theaters by the ruling party in

the State (political pressure). For that reason only,. Mani got only

one Best director award given by the Government of India. Many of

them in Tamil Nadu will give response to Iruvar and Kannathil

Muthamittal.

Why Bombay movie is the best for Mani

Every film is the best of Mani. Then why Bombay is the best.
Because it is a Controversial story. It is like walking on Knife.
If you tilt towards one side then that is it. No director in
India has the guts to take the story so balanced. So every shot
has to be taken very very carefully.

In spite of it there is romance too. So Bombay is the best. Hope
you will agree. Remaining pictures are also good. But Bombay is
some thing special.

Bombay film was done with that perfection. If some body has taken
the film, even after getting the story, screen play from Maniratnam
the film would have not released due to direction.

Maniratnam is the only person who can take the film like that,
and that too make it a huge success.

Naan Mahaan Alla Preview

Banner:Studio Green
Cast:Karthi, Kajal Agarwal
Direction:Suseendran
Production:K E Gnanavel Raja
Music:Yuvan Shankar Raja
Karthi is one of the hottest stars of this year with three consecutive hit films. This year he had the first super hit ‘Paiyaa’ publicising his ability. ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ is his fourth film. The title has reused taken an old Rajinikanth film released in 1984. That had Rajini and Radha and this new film has Karthi and Kajal Agarwal. The similarities end there. The story of Karthi’s ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ has no resemblance to the super star film. While that was a story of lawyer who becomes the nemesis of the villains, the new film is all about a wishful romantic.
‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ directed by Suseendran of ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu’ fame. This is a different film for the director as his first film was set in a village backdrop and ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ is a city-centric flick. This film is produced by K.E Gnanavel Rajan of Studio Green Films in collaboration with S.R. Prakash Babu and S.R. Prabhu. Studio Green is the banner which gave riveting films like ‘Sillunu Oru Kadhal’ and ‘Paruthi Veeran’.
The heart of the film is about the bonding of a serious father and a romantic son, laced with the criminal backdrops of Chennai. Karthi plays the role of Jeeva, a typical middle-class Chennai youngster with a devil-may-care attitude, who is drawn into the world of crime and criminals after a particular incident changes his life. Jayaprakash after his superb performances in ‘Pasanga’ and ‘Naadodigal’, plays the role of Karthi’s father.
The hottie in Telugu after the blockbuster ‘Magadheera’, Kajal Agarwal is the heroine of the film. In Tamil, she was last seen in Saran’s ‘Modhi Vilayadu’. Her character in ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ is cute and bubbly, something on the lines of what Asin played in ‘Ghajini’, says the director.
This film will be an extension of Karthi’s image in ‘Paiyaa’. According to the director Suseendran Karthi’s role in this film is almost the same as senior Karthik’s role in Mani Ratnam's ‘Mouna Raagam’. This film will showcase another romantic side of Karthi ala Paiyaa, sources say.
A combination that made ‘Paiyaa’ a success, music director Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematographer Mathi are back together in this film. Songwriters are Na. Muthukumar, Yugabharathy and Francis while Bhaskar Sakthi has penned dialogues. Rajeevan is in charge of the art department.
Director Suseendran assures that ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ contains 100% entertainment factors with the right mix of comedy, romance, action and sentiments. Karthi had said,” When director Suseendran was narrating the first half of the story I was laughing. I asked him whether I would be suitable for the role of an ordinary middle income youth. He said I will fit the role. For the first time I rehearsed for this film. I rehearsed for one week.”
Now that the film is taken over by Dhayanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine Movies, it will leave no stone unturned to reach the masses in every nook and corner.
‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ will be stylish as well as realistic. The film which started in September 2009 has been scheduled for release in August 2010.

It falls in love with Aishwarya Rai and writes romantic poems besides doing many other things. Knowing about the extra ordinary intelligence of the Robot the villains lead by Danny Denzongpa try to get control of the Robot. Scientist Rajini then fights to save the Robot falling into the hands of the enemies and destroys the evil forces using the Robot itself.
‘Endhiran’ was a dream of director Shankar. After the stupendous success of ‘Sivaji’ in 2007, Shankar decided to go ahead with the project. The story was developed by Sujatha. He was the one who wrote the finest sci-fi novel ‘En Iniya Iyanthira’. He must have been inspired a lot by the Issac Asimov’s robot story ‘Bicentennial Man’ published in 1975.
If the Tamil film is going to be the biggest ever film who else but the Super Star fit to head the film? The Super Star was signed. For the heroine Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone were considered and Ash was finalized. For the main villain Telugu star Chakravarthi was first considered and later the Bollywood legend Danny Denzongpa was signed. All most all the biggest names in Indian cinema were tossed up to do at least a character.
In January 2008 ‘Endhiran’ was announced to be produced by Ayngaran International along with Eros Labs. The film was growing and the budget was escalating. At one point the international production companies wanted to leave the project and Sun Pictures came to the rescue.  In 2009 ‘Endhiran’ was officially taken over by Sun Pictures.
After Sun Pictures took over, the 200-crore film progressed fast and got completed in July 2010. The first schedule of ‘Endhiran’ commenced with the filming of “Kilimanajro” song featuring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai at the historic location of the Machu Picchu in Peru. The final schedule was fittingly wrapped up at the Sun Studios in Chennai.
The technical crew of ‘Endhiran’ is hand picked by Shankar from all over the world comprising the best of the world.
The script is by late Sujatha, Shankar and Balakumaran. Yuen Woo Ping who designed action scenes for films like The Matrix, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The Forbidden Kingdom is the stunt co-co-ordinator for ‘Endhiran’. Also our own Peter Hein has done a great job.
Stan Winston Studios which handled visual effects for iconic films like Aliens, Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park took care of the animatronics in the film. Shankar has used animatronics technology, seen in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park trilogy for ‘Endhiran’.
The spectacular effects are made real by the superior combination lighting cinematography of Rathnavelu. Editing is by Anthony and the dance choreography for ‘Endhiran’ is by Raju Sundaram and Claudia Bruckmann.
Industrial Light & Magic that handled the special effects for films like Avatar, Star Wars, and Titanic worked on visual and special effects. Buzz says about 40 per cent of the budget was spent on the special effects.
And for the music there is no comparison. The audio of ‘Endhiran’ was officially released on July 31. The best thing about the songs of ‘Endhiran’ is that they are A Rajini Rahman numbers. In his earlier films for Rajini ARR stayed away from his style of music and blended with the Super Star image more. But in ‘Endhiran’ both high values are independent yet complementing each other.
With ‘Endhiran’, Kalanidhi Maran and Hansraj Saxena of Sun Pictures are debuting as official producers. Sun Pictures has tied up with the reputed international distributors HBO to release ‘Endhiran’ with English subtitles in the West. ‘Endhiran’ is expected to hit world screens with nearly 1500 prints in three languages. In the process for the first time China will screen a Rajini film.
Come September, there’s no territory left untouched by the magnetism of Super Stat Rajinikath. With stunning film like ‘Endhiran’, Kollywood is surely all set to make a mark in world cinema.

Velayudham Preview

Cast:Vijay, Genelia, Hansika Motwani, Saranya Mohan
Direction:'Jayam' Raja
Production:Aascar Ravichandran
Music:Vijay Antony
Remakes have always been safe bets for Vijay and director M Raja. With the former having a track record of films like ‘Kadhalukku Mariyadhai’, ‘Ninaithen Vandhai’, ‘Priyamanavale’ and ‘Pokkiri’, the latter has carved a niche for himself doing remakes from ‘Jayam’ to ‘Santosh Subramaniam’.
And now, both have come together for ‘Velayudham’, which too is said to be a remake of a Telugu hit, titled ‘Aazad’. Produced by Aascar V Ravichandran, the film that was launched amidst much fanfare has two heroines- Genelia and Hansika Motwani.
Says Raja, “This is my first film with a big actor like Vijay. He suits to the role well. The movie is about an ordinary youngster who transforms as a catalyst to reform the society. I am hopeful ‘Velayudham’ will work big time with the audience.”
“Vijay plays an enterprising youngster while Genelia is doing the role of a journalist,” the director says and adds: “Hansika Motwani and Saranya Mohan are also doing crucial characters. Comedy will be taken care of by Santhanam and Sathyan.”
The plot is interesting. Genelia reports that a superhero is saving the city and circumstances lead Vijay to accidentally save the city from the impostors, making him the accidental superhero!
Vijay’s costumes in the movie seem to be inspired from a popular game title. Though nothing is known how long he’d be wearing the costumes, the first look given by the makers suggest Vijay’s up to something big!
Saying Priyan’s cinematography will be a highlight and Vijay Antony has come out with catchy songs, Raja continues: “On the whole, ‘Velayudham’ will be a wholesome treat to not just Vijay fans, but for every movie-goer.”
On his part, Vijay says, “Working for a big banner like Aascar gives me immense proud. Raja is known for his knack to deliver blockbusters without a break. ‘Velayudham’ is a nice story. Hopefully our combination should rock.”

Title change for ‘Vaanam’?

‘Vaanam’, a multistarrer which has STR (Simbu), Bharath and Sneha Ullal among others playing lead roles, may go for a title change, say sources in the know.
The film, a remake of Tollywood hit ‘Vedam’ is directed by Krish, who made the Telugu original too. It is based on the lives of five youngsters and Simbu is playing Cable Raja, a cable TV operator.
“Since the makers of the film feel that the title is not catchy, they are seriously thinking about renaming the movie. A list of titles is being worked out and a decision would be made soon,” say sources.
Interestingly, it may be recalled that Simbu too has changed his name recently. He has asked his fans to call him STR henceforth, the short form of his full name Silambarasan Thesingu Rajendran.
